Overview
Beso Media (“we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes Granola, a journal about outdoor adventures, food, sustainable living, and community. The site may be supported by affiliate links. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you read the site or contact us, and what we do with it.
Granola is a reading site. There are no accounts, comment forms, newsletter subscriptions, or checkout.
This policy applies to granola.app and to correspondence about the site. It is subject to our Terms of Use. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site.
Information you provide
When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We keep the correspondence so we can reply and follow up.
If you reach us through a social media platform, we also receive whatever that platform shares with us, subject to its own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically
Granola is a static site. Our hosting provider processes technical information needed to deliver each request, such as your IP address, browser details, and the page requested. Hosting logs may record this information to help operate the site and protect it from abuse.
Fonts and article images are served with the site. We do not use Google Analytics, third-party font requests, or advertising pixels in this version of Granola.
Affiliate links
Granola may include affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the merchant or its affiliate network may pay us a commission. An affiliate link carries a publisher identifier so a sale can be attributed to us. We do not add your name, email address, or other personal information from this site to these links.
The merchant handles your purchase and payment information. Affiliate networks may report attributed purchases and commissions to us. Our affiliate disclosure explains how these links support the site.
How we use it
We use the information described above to publish and deliver the site, answer your messages, and keep the site secure and working.
We also use it where necessary to enforce our policies, defend our legal rights, and comply with applicable law. We never use your information to build a profile of you or to sell to you on behalf of anyone else.
Retention
We keep email correspondence for as long as it is useful to answer your question or maintain a record of the exchange, and we delete it when it is no longer needed. Hosting logs are retained according to our hosting provider’s configuration and retention settings.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS to encrypt requests between your browser and the site. We restrict access to correspondence to the people who need it to operate Granola.
No system is perfectly secure. If you notice anything suspicious involving Granola, such as an email that claims to be from us but looks wrong, let us know at hello@granola.app.
Your choices & rights
You can ask us to update or delete information you have provided by emailing us.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to how we use it. We honor these rights as required by applicable law. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and we may decline requests that are excessive, repetitive, or abusive.
Children
Granola is written for adults interested in outdoor adventures, food, sustainable living, and community. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has emailed us, contact us at hello@granola.app and we will delete the information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves, for example if we add analytics or a newsletter. When we do, we will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Continued use of the site after a change is posted means you accept the revised policy.
